Duke Nukem Never: 3D Realms shuts down, Trilogy development “continuing”
Just when you thought Duke Nukem Forever was finally gonna claw its way out of the vaporware bin (seriously, did anybody really think it would?), here comes what could be the final nail in the game’s coffin: developer 3D Realms has reportedly shut down.
Just when you thought Duke Nukem Forever was finally gonna claw its way out of the vaporware bin (seriously, did anybody really think it would?), here comes what could be the final nail in the game’s coffin: developer 3D Realms has reportedly shut down.
According to Shacknews, a reliable source explained that the studio’s closure came about as a result of funding issues. Both 3D Realms and Apogee Software were supposedly affected, with both companies having to let employees go.
A representative for Apogee and Deep Silver has since issued a statement that whatever is happening with 3D Realms hasn’t affected Apogee and Deep Silver. The same rep also confirmed that Frontline Games is also unaffected and that development on Duke Nukem Trilogy (PSP, DS) is “continuing as planned”.
