E3 Zelda: Twilight Princess Demo Video

At Nintendo’s press conference during E3, Zelda: Twilight Princess and the Nintendo Wii were demonstrated together in real time, being played just as “Wii” all will get to experience soon after its release. The version being played was a compact build, made specifically for E3.

The control scheme was described as the game was being played, “…very basic control that’s going to be very familiar to anyone that’s played a Zelda game. The movement is handled with the analog stick on the nun chuck. Link’s arsenal of items is going to be mapped to the plus-control pad on the Wii remote, and Zelda’s patented targeting system will be handled using the Z button also on the nun chuck in the left hand”.

It was also explained how all the menus would be accessed by pointing the Wii remote at the screen, with your cursor being represented by a fairy who flies around according to your movements.

Probably the biggest shocker of all, is the presence of a speaker within the Wii remote, which will act as an additional sound source for certain effects in games. In this video, we hear an explanation of how the new Zelda game will take advantage of the speaker inside the Wii remote, “You’ll hear the bowstring draw, you’ll hear the fwip of the arrows, and then you’ll hear that sound travel from your hand to the TV, where that arrow will plunge into the chest of your enemy“.

What other secrets is Nintendo keeping about their controller?
