EA calls Spore delay reports “misinformation”
Electronic Arts has responded to reports that the highly-anticipated title Spore (DS, PC) will be delayed indefinitely, saying that the delay reports are “misinformation”.
The recent reports are apparently rooted in statements from last month that Spore will be released either in Q4 of fiscal year ’08 or early in fiscal year ’09. The company’s fiscal year ’09 runs from April of next year until March 2009. An EA representative said the following in a phone call to video game news website Next Generation:
There seems to be some misinformation flying around. Nothing’s changed since our call on May 8, where [CEO] John Riccitello specifically said that we were moving Spore from fiscal ’08 to early fiscal ’09.
EA has yet to reveal a definite release date for Spore, but the representative also added that the game is “progressing and it looks great”.
