EA explains why Medal of Honor: Airborne has been delayed for PS3
It was earlier reported that the release of the Sony PlayStation 3 version of the upcoming Electronic Arts shooter Medal of Honor Airborne has been delayed to November of 2007. This time, EA explains just what happened.
According to the project’s executive producer, Patrick Gilmore, the development kits from Sony came in later than those of the other platforms, causing the timetable to be adjusted. He added that they will release the game when it’s in the best shape possible.
Gilmore made known their unwillingness to compromise quality and assured everyone that they did not want to shortchange the PS3 owner, saying “we want to release on PS3 when we can deliver a much more polished and complete experience.”
Gilmore also didn’t hold back on the compliments for the high-end console, calling the PS3 “a great machine” and describing how powerful the Cell processor is. ” The challenge for any developer is figuring out how to leverage all that extra power,” he admits.
Airborne follows a successful platoon of titles from the Medal of Honor franchise and tries its hand at innovating the FPS genre by giving players a free hand at how they want to run through missions with the ability to para drop in different spots. The developers are touting a non-linear experience that gives users a different game each and every time.
