EA: Next-Gen Playing Field More Equal Now
We often talk about next-generation this, next-generation that. And Electronic Arts believes in a recent talk with analysts that the previous generation of consoles was dominated by Sony through the first PlayStation and its successor. Such is the reason why EA affirms support for the beleaguered company despite the announced delay.
Instead of involving itself with controversies and rumors, the videogame publisher focuses on just improving industry sales trends over the summer and consider several prospects for healthy long-term growth. Even with that said however, a change in the launch lineup for EA is still expected.
According to them, “We do not expect a meaningful impact on the fiscal-year outlook. Over the course of the new cycle, EA expects a more even playing field among the three video-game consoles in contrast to SonyÂ’s dominance during the previous two cycles.”
It would be remembered that Sony PlayStation 2 sold 1.3 million units within the first two months in North America alone. It would be nice to find out what happens when the three consoles slug it out yet again soon.
