Can’t get enough of Command and Conquer? Not to worry, as Electronic Arts has recently announced the development of a new Command and Conquer game dubbed Tiberium (PC, PS3, Xbox 360) Don’t expect it to be an RTS though, as this one will be more of a tactical first person shooter instead.

Set amidst the context of an impending alien invasion, players assume the role of Global Defense Initiative Forward Battle Commander Ricardo Vega, who is tasked with dealing with the alien threat. This is where the tactical Command and Conquer side comes in: since Commander Vega has an assortment of elite squads under his command, players can take control of multiple squads and direct them in the heat of battle.

Can’t wait to play it? Neither can we. Thing is, Electronic Arts has scheduled the release date of Tiberium for autumn 2008. Looks like we’ll be sharpening our skills at Command and Conquer 3: Tiberium Wars (PC, Xbox 360) until then.
