EA Sports Updates Gamers on NBA Live 07

The NBA Live Series continues to deliver the ultimate basketball game experience to video gamers with its newest installment, NBA Live 07. Electronic Arts (EA), the company responsible for the successful sport series, recently allowed the press to catch a glimpse of NBA Live 07 for Xbox 360. Highlighting the press conference was a demonstration of the game’s ESPN integration features, along with the current-gen versions of the game.

And just what exactly are we supposed to look forward to in this year’s installment? Producer Tim Tschirner answers, “Last year we focused on creating the best looking basketball game and this year we have focused on gameplay innovation and depth. We have completely re-written the AI and animation and we have created a new gameplay experience centered on authentic athletic performance.”

One of the most exciting new feature for 07 would probably be the Total Freestyle Control, which basically allows the players to “play and move like you’ve never seen them before”. A great progress from the previous Live Series is that in the latest installment, each and every player can now have multiple Superstar types and be able to change them on the fly. Tschirner further describes, “You no longer have to decide if you want LeBron to be a High Flyer, Play Maker or Scorer — now he’s all of them, just like his real life counterpart.”

Also joining the new features are three new additions of levels of Superstars. Through this, differentiating between players in greater detail is made possible, and therefore allows more players to be Freestyle Superstars. Also stemming from this is a more organic experience in playing from a control standpoint, as they have shifted the control on the right stick to allow simulation of movements “in a very cool way”.

The animation and graphics, of course, are guaranteed to remain superb, if not better. The imaging is so detailed, that you can now even spot the reflections of the players on the hardcourt’s floor. Though the 07 is still under construction (they are currently working on tuning the gameplay engine), this is most definitely one of the big hits to look forward to next year.
