EA’s Will Mozell Scores With The Next-Gen NBA Street Updates
Get ready for a totally new experience of Streetball with EA’s NBA Street Next-Gen (for Xbox 360 and PS3). Though still in its very early stages of development, the game is already making noise. EA, through its Street Executive Producer Will Mozell, has pumped the hype button to maximum as he talks about what’s up at the chain-fenced courts of Streetball.
It was teasing, the way he refused to divulge any specifics about the game, but what he did say sure was enough to get that intrigue flowing. And don’t we all love a good intrigue every once in a while? According to Mozell, the Next-Gen games will deliver real-time manipulation of the characters on screen by enabling players to use the face buttons, instead of pressing all four trigger buttons along with a face button. This will not only give a “more advanced” animation, but more importantly, it will put the ball directly in the player’s hand.
The game will also be getting a defense makeover, as EA supposedly found simple ways to finally make defense fun on the ground. Adding to that is the innovation of the courts, where the perception provided is really that of an open world. Says Mozell, “Truth be known, the quality of our environments would rival the detail in some of the best shooter and action titles out there. We believe it’s the only way to make the consumer feel like these worlds are more real and life-like than ever before.”
For now, the list of potential features include voiceovers from real NBA stars, a brand new control scheme, and fun defense. Although that may not seem like a lot of details, it’s still sufficient to get those imaginations working and that intrigue biting.
