Takeshi Kaneshiro as Samanosuke in Onimusha movie

This is indeed great news for Onimusha purists: Takeshi Kaneshiro, voice actor of Samanosuke in the Onimusha series, will reprise the role of the main character in the upcoming movie adaptation of Capcom‘s great action-adventure video game. This will, at least, lessen the pain some felt after hearing that David Hayter won’t be involved in the Metal Gear movie. Now all that’s left is for them to announce that Jean Reno will be in the movie as well as Jacques Blanc (of Onimusha 3).

As reported in an earlier post, Christopher Gans will be at the helm of this project, which may or may not be to your preference, depending on how you liked his take on Silent Hill.
