Enterbrain provides console sales data for Japan

Yes, much has been said about the console wars, most especially about the battle being waged in the Land of the Rising Sun. But we figured, it wouldn’t be talked about in the first place if people aren’t interested, right? With that said, here’s a quick update based on the new numbers released by research firm Enterbrain.

According Enterbrain, the Wii just broke the one million mark in Japan alone with a total number of units sold at around 1.14 million. Just a couple of days ago, the number was somewhere around 990,000. Just imagine how fast our Japanese friends are gobbling up Nintendo’s next-gen baby.

Enterbrain also said that Sony was able to sell 534,336 PS3 units. The firm was previously unable to release data for the Xbox 360 sales, but this time, it’s saying that Microsoft‘s console sales is around 311,053 units.

The numbers were tallied starting from the consoles’ original release dates until January 7 of this year. Take note that these figures apply to Japan only. The data provided favors the Wii, but Japan has always been Nintendo Country anyway.

We guess we’ll just have to see about other territories since the state of things in other parts is quite different. We’ll keep you updated with the latest info we get.
