Epic Games to make the Unreal Modding tournament happen

Mr. Mark Rein, vice-president of Epic Games, announced the continuation of the Unreal Modding tournament. Continuing from “the Make Something Unreal competition in 2004”, Epic seems to be encouraging the modding community to keep supporting its product – something that the modding community has done, producing hundreds if not thousands of mods for each Unreal PC game released.

In Mr. Rein’s exact words: “For sure there’ll be another mod contest, no question about that.” And in line with why it’s been done: ” We’ve done one for each generation of engines so absolutely there’ll be one for Unreal 3. It’s been hugely successful for us.”

The Make Something Unreal contest by NVIDIA and Epic Games back in 2004 was won by Tripwire Interactive. The winning entry was called Red Orchestra and was set on the Eastern Front in the Second World War. Winning members got a free license for the Unreal Engine 2.5 and Unreal Engine 3. We’re all wondering what the grand prize will be this year…
