Examining TGS aftermath on Microsoft

Microsoft Media BriefingFor Microsoft Corporation, attending this year’s TGS is like going to war; and from what everyone had seen, they didn’t go unprepared. Judging from initial results, it is safe to say that Xbox 360 is slowly gaining foothold on this rather hostile territory.

For flare and flavor, Microsoft signed in a J-pop boy band to banner their new ad campaign. For content, they had Japanese friendly titles like Trusty Bell, Lost Odyssey and Blue Dragon. The last two titles are getting the maximum marketing push. Accordingly, an hour-long playable Lost Odyssey demo will be included in an upcoming issue of Famitsu. Also, a limited-edition Xbox 360 Core System Blue Dragon Premium Pack will kick off the title’s launch.

Most importantly, big bosses were in attendance. And when we say big bosses, we mean the real big ones like: Peter Moore (Corporate Vice President), Takashi Sensui (MS Japan leader) and Hironobu Sakaguchi (Final Fantasy creator).

Analysts are saying Microsoft is pushing all the right buttons. And if these things will not hand the Japanese market to them on a silver platter, at least their machinery is slowly picking up steam. Compared to this year, last year’s TGS was a complete dismay for this American company. Things will become more exciting for sure when Wii and PS3 comes out later this year.
