FCC Approves Asus P525
P525, a Pocket PC phone with a built-in numberpad from Asus, gets its approval from the FCC (Federal Communications Commission). This alone doesn’t guarantee the phone’s release in the US, but the fact that the P525 is a quad-band smartphone is a strong indicator of its release in the US soon. Quite a lot of handsets and PDAs are out in the market but this one will probably be more favored by those who prefer the traditional 0-9 numeric keypad on the interface.
This device runs Windows Mobile 2005 for Pocket PC and includes 64 MB of RAM and 128 MB of ROM, with a miniSD slot for extra storage. However, the P525 doesn’t offer EDGE or any cellular-wireless networking systems, but it does have Wi-Fi (802.11 b/g) and Bluetooth 1.2. Other features include a 2.8-inch QVGA screen, a 2 megapixel camera, and a 1300 mAh swappable battery.
No one knows just yet when Asus will release this product and how much it will cost.
