If you’ve ever fantasized about wielding a piece or two of Master Chief‘s formidable arsenal of toys that go ZAP and BOOM, your fantasies may be closer to reality than you previously thought. Jasman Toys, makers of the hugely-popular Laser Command laser tag gunplay set, will be unveiling their latest creation in Comic-Con: actual working replicas of Halo 3 weapons, complete with all the features that made you fall in love with them the second Master Chief started blowing things up with them!

Of course, they’re not actually “working”, in the sense that they don’t blow stuff up. They’re parts and pieces of their latest laser tag gunplay set, called Halo Laser Pursuit. Meaning they shoot lasers – the safe kind – instead of plasma or any of the explosive stuff we’ve been spoiled with in Halo. Fret not, however – even with that little issue of the replicas not being actual weapons of mass destruction, the guys at Jasman Toys have been hard at work making sure that the replicas themselves are completely faithful to their in-game counterparts.

More details after the jump!

So, besides looking absolutely gorgeous and awesome, what’re the bells and whistles of the replicated pieces of Master Chief’s kit? Well, for one, the working models will feature convincing lights, recoil, and even the sounds of the particular Halo weapon they were modeled after. Not only that, they’ll also be packing that neat little instance of “overheating” when fired too much, as well as a charging shot mode when you hold down the trigger. This charging mode, called the Super Shot mode, causes more damage to your targets instead of a regular shot.

Convinced? Just remember, though, there’s also a few cons. Jasman Toys confessed that the replicas themselves weren’t exactly a 1/1 scale model. The reason for this is that with Master Chief being the big man that he is, scaling the weapons to his size would give us cumbersome replicas to work with. So they had to scale it down a little, so that the non-Spartan can also enjoy some quality time with the weapons and not strain a wrist.

Also, we won’t be seeing UNSC weapon replicas anytime soon – Jasman Toys explained that with the human weapons resembling actual firearms a bit too much, they’d have to paint the replicas with bright colors (orange, green, bleah) so that they’ll be allowed to sell them. Of course, they were also quick to hint that if the Covenant weapon replicas became successful enough, there could be BR and AR replicas in the near future.

Certainly great news that toy-makers are seeing the light in regards to making merchandise out of videogame weapons. Will we see more videogame-related kit in the near future? Perhaps a replica of Grayfox’s High-Vibration Katana, or The Joy’s Patriot Gun? We can’t help but think of the possibilities.

The Covenant Weapon replicas will be available for purchase at your local Hot Topics or shops starting October 2007, and the Covenant Energy Sword sometime around 2008. In Comic-Con, they will be displayed at the Tor Booth.

Updates as we get them!
