Follow-up Wii and PS3 shipments for GameStop
For the last few days now, we’ve all been focusing on post-launch updates for both consoles. Not to spoil the fun though, let us not forget that a lot of people weren’t able to get their hands on a Wii or a PlayStation 3. Nintendo and Sony both earlier claimed that the total number of launch units were enough but the violence that transpired in the waiting lines proved otherwise.
It is a good thing that giant retailer GameStop just confirmed that they have been re-supplied by the two companies. Speaking in an investor conference call connected to their third-quarter earnings report, GameStop executives also declared that they would be getting new stocks for both consoles on a weekly basis.
Interestingly enough, GameStop officials announced that software sales were stronger for Nintendo with each Wii buyer purchasing three games on the average. The biggest sellers were, as expected, The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess and Ubisoft‘s Red Steel.
The Sony PS3 on the other hand, just recorded a ratio of 1.5 games for each console. The GameStop officials explained that this is due to some people buying the console then re-selling it for a higher price. Despite such, the total number of sales for titles Resistance: Fall of Man and Madden NFL 07 remained impressive.
