Four new WoW realms now open

World of Warcraft

As announced by World of Warcraft moderator Tseric over at the WoW forums, as of October 5, 2006, four new realms have been opened and may now be populated by the dwellers of Azeroth. To quote:

“We would like to announce the opening of four new realms today, right now! As our population continues to grow, we feel more room is necessary for new and veteran players alike to start fresh adventures in Azeroth! For those of you with more particular considerations, these realms will be incorporated into Battlegroup 11.”

Two realms, Vashj and Darrowmere, will be dedicated solely for PVP, while Blackwater Raiders will be a server reserved for those who wish to remain in character and role-play during their stay. On the other hand, the fourth server, Echo Isles, will be for Player-Versus-Environment play for those who want to spend more time on cooperative missions (or those who simply want to hack and slash at random critters).

Though some players are wary of this new development as it may cause more problems during gameplay, the new servers are generally welcome and are expected to lighten the load in already over-populated servers, though character transfers are currently still on hold to give those who are starting out in new servers a head start.
