GameCube = Wii – US$ 50 at EBGameStop

a good deal - Image 1

The PS3 and its predecessor aren’t the only subjects of a trade-in deal with EB/GameStop‘s name written all over it. The other big release of late 2006, the Wii, is also being offered for discount at EB/GameStop stores, so as long as you’re willing to part with one (1) GameCube.

And while you’re at it, the fine print of the flyer (also available at the source link below) mentions that your working-condition GameCube should also have its working-condition controller, AC cable, and AV hookup cable when it’s traded in for the US$ 50.00 discount towards your brand-new Wii.

Did we also mention offer good from the 21st to the 28th of this month? Oh good, we just did. Punctuality and timeliness are important virtues. (So is the virtue of reading the fine print, by the way. If you’re going to take EB/GameStop on the offer, do read the fine print.)

This deal brings to mind this VGCats comic. Of course, this brings up the question of whether you’re willing to part with your GameCube in the first place, but the Wii is also quite back-compatted for GC games. The controller might be another thing entirely, if you happen to own only one (unlikely if you also happen to own any Mario party game), since it’s also a legitimate Wii accessory.

Still, with EBGameStop collecting used PS2 and GameCube systems… if they’re not going to be sending them back to their respective manufacturers, are we gonna see a round of used systems hitting the bargain bin? Hmm… how about a charitable donation instead?
