Garp comin’ atcha live from Indie Games Conference!

As some of you may or may not know, Indie Games Conference (IGC) is just about to kick off, and Garp, our very own creative writer / forum moderator is at the conference ready to get some interviews and hopefully suck some fresh info from alcohol influenced game developers. Here’s his first writeup, we’ll keep you posted!

“Hidden away in a Banquet Hall on West First Avenue in Eugene, Oregon is an Xbox 360.
A working, playable 360.
I’ll get my hands on that later on. For right now, I’m going to paint you a picture of the event.

Conference2The banquet hall itself is pretty small, which is absolutely serviceable for what Garage Games is looking to accomplish with their conference. It’s close-knit and allows for plenty of mingling and communication with the various developers who are here. As you walk through the door, the first thing you see is the long line on both sides of massive computer monitors that show the latest indie games being run. It’s interesting to sit down at one of the Macs or PCs and see what other people have loaded on there for people to try. Their love of old school gaming is obvious from the types of games available. My personal favorite right now is Brickland. Again, more on that later.

The events kick off with a bang tonight at 5:00 Pacific Time, and of course I’ll be here all weekend to cover all of them. There is a developer’s boot camp that is occurring after Sunday, but unfortunately I won’t be able to cover that event. All in all, there is excitement and laughter in the air and I’ll be honest with you. I wouldn’t have missed this event for anything else in the world.

Let me know if there is anything of interest that you want me to cover. I can be reached at [email protected] and will welcome all requests.”
