GC 2007 video: Turok or not to rock

Dinosaurs in a game never get old. When you add guns to that game, it becomes even more fun. Turok is a Nintendo 64 original which got a ton of critical acclaim in its heyday, and now a remake is in the works for the Sony PlayStation 3 and the Microsoft Xbox 360. This video was taken from GC 2007 in Germany and it looks great despite the audio.

Yep, this game is definitely not for kids. Much of what happens here is you play as resident wild man Joseph Turok who’s out to stop dino-mutants and fully-bred dinosaurs littered around a genetically altered planet. To do that, players must sneak up on ’em reptiles, lob a grenade and spray gunfire, hoping that the procedure turns them into fossils. They can always use stealth to get away and avoid violence, but that would be a waste of dino pixels, wouldn’t it.

The remake isn’t only wonderfully drawn, but also sports some of the sickest weapons ever devised for an FPS. You’ve got all the standards as well as other tools for creative carnage. You’ll know you’ve been playing this one too much when you start thinking about trying your game tricks on neighborhood dogs with a BB gun. Just be careful because they might fight back like the ones in this clip.
