Off-topic we know, but its a bit of Ninty-related nostalgia for you folks, so you might appreciate it. That and it’s from the GDC, so it is timely, in a certain way.

Anyhow, while exploring the the grounds of the Game Developers Conference 2007, Destructoid’s Colette Bennett was able to to catch a preview showing of the 2007 I am 8-bit art show. The show is set to launch this coming April 17th in Los Angeles at the 1988 Gallery. The images she took are below. Take a gander if you wish.

If you’re a bit weirded out that the the images above  seem like they were made by folks who were high on psychedelics, just relax. Artsy folks are like that. Hey, like they said: you contribute to your passion in whatever fashion you can.

Our favorite in the bunch? The stare-off between the d-pad and the eye-less Mario. There’s just something eerie and at the same time Katamari-esque about it. Maybe it’s the crown. The Punch-Out mugs are a close second.
