Gears of War 2 launch date hinted with a dog tag

Still itching to find out when Epic Games will launch that hottie of a prospect called Gears of War 2? A seemingly valid hint has been dropped and it was decoded by some users using ASCII code. When translated, an early November release is spelled out. Details and the screen capture of the cryptic message after the jump.

 

Still wondering when Epic Games will finally unleash Gears of War 2 for the Xbox 360? A strong case has been made via the forums when someone posted a nice theory on it based from the new splash page on the game’s community site. Using seemingly random numbers from the dog tag displayed above, a code was deciphered to make sense out of the obscure.

When cross-referenced to an ASCII code table, the dog tag numbers that read “033-116-117-126-071” could be translated into “ESC N O V 9”. That would make a lot of sense as it falls right into the game’s release window.

Pretty clever, eh? It’s a nice way to create some buzz in the community, too. We’ll keep you updated for more on Gears of War 2 as soon as more word comes out.
