Gintama coming to Wii

Gintama mag scan - Image 1NGCFrance reports that after enjoying appearances on the Nintendo DS handheld system, characters from the popular Japanese manga Gintama will also be heading to Nintendo’s next gen Wii video game console. Check out the mag scan on the right.

According to Wikipedia, four DS games featuring Gintama characters have been released so far. The first was Gintama, a game based on the anime. The Shonen Jump crossover Jump Superstars and its sequel, Jump Ultimate Stars, also featured characters from the series. Another game, Gintama: Gintoki vs. Hijikata?! was released in December of 2006.

None of the Gintama DS games were released internationally although both the manga and the anime have quite a few fans outside Japan. With that in mind, it seems likely that the Wii version could also end up as a Japan-exclusive title. The manga has been licensed by Viz, though, so maybe there’s still some hope that this game gets released here.
