GoW Re-emergence Day rumors proven to be… well, rumors

Just recently, a rumor has surfaced that there will be a so-called “Re-emergence Day” for the Epic Games title, Gears of War. Supposedly, this re-emergence will occur on December 24, and will come, bananas a-blazing, with oodles of downloadable content.

Well, sorry to rain on everyone’s parade, but it’s all apparently not true, as Epic Games VP Mark Rein himself points out over at the EG forums:

“Folks, This is a hoax.

We’ve already stated that we are working on releasing an update soon but we don’t know the exact date of the release yet because it has not passed certification yet.

I wish the fan sites and online media would check with me first before they post stuff like this. Pretty much all of them have at least my email address (if not my phone number) and I check mail many, many times throughout the day.”

‘Nuff said.
