Guild Wars Scribe: Annual Dragon Festival and Creative Combat Strategies

guildwarsThe traveling Scribe of Guild Wars has sent word that citizens of Cantha are preparing for the annual Dragon Festival. Rice wine and red bean cakes fill merchants’ storerooms and the townsfolk prepare the activities to commemorate the survival of the Empire of the Dragon following the Jade Wind. Those who  passed by the Shing Jea Monastery and Kaineng Center would be delighted with the colorful decorations adorning the area.

This year’s celebration holds special significance in light of new threats to the empire. The festival not only memorializes past victories, but it’s also a show of courage and strength of the residents of Cantha as they prepare to face even the most catastrophic of tragedies.

To ensure a peaceful celebration, the emperor’s guards will enforce a strict “no combat” law within the towns of Cantha. Luxons and Kurzicks will be able to enjoy the festivities without conflict.

The five-day affair will be filled with games, prizes, food, wine, and plenty of dancing and merry-making. Residents are in for a treat at the festival’s finale. No word on what it’ll be but it sure is something that they shouldn’t miss. Though the festival will last for five days, the special event collector will continue for an additional week. Plenty of time for the celebrants to turn in their Jade Wind Orbs for a special Dragon Mask.

On his way to Tanglewood Copse, The Scribe took notice of the more creative abstract strategies being used by soldiers in combat. Though he’s used to seeing soldiers making use of skill combinations to ward off enemies, he was particularly amazed at a Warrior/Elementalist’s use of hammer and Earth Magic skills. The rare plan of attack is combined with a single skill from the Air Magic line known as the “Ride the Lightning”. Elementalists don’t usually take skills from two different Elemental lines, but the strategy was proven effective.
