Guitar Hero exec mum about 80s title rumors

our little guitar hero - Image 1Dusty Welch talked to MTV News earlier this week and informed that they have “ambitious ideas” planned for the franchise. He also deflected questions regarding the reported rumors that a PlayStation 2 ’80s edition would ship in spring alongside the announced Guitar Hero II for the Xbox 360.

When asked about the rumored 80’s version, the Villain games, or any other projects they might have under wraps, Welch craftily said:

We only make announcements when confirmed information is available, and at the moment, we do not have further details in regards to any projects or titles outside of the Xbox 360.

However, he did discuss the developer change, noting that Tony Hawk makers Neversoft will handle any future Guitar Hero game, which he otherwise cannot discuss.

As for the chances of seeing a Wii version of Guitar Hero, Welch says that “it only makes sense” for them to “explore all the great opportunities available.” Welch also tries to douse the hopes of handheld junkies by saying that they’d rather find out first “whether or not this market is a truly viable option” before they go ahead and make a DS or a PSP version of Guitar Hero.
