Video game industry veteran and father of the Harvest Moon franchise, Marvelous Interactive‘s Yasuhiro Wada, said in an interview that he would love to make something like Will Wright‘s Spore (Nintendo Wii, DS, PC) today. He continued, saying the idea of such game in which you “create something, and from there, new stuff is going to be created again and again and again” came to him since he got into the development scene.

“I’d love to make Spore today. In the first place we thought about Osama Monogatari, it was more like Spore than what it is now,” Wada told Gamasutra when asked if he wants to create a new universe of Harvest Moon‘s scale and size. Known as Project O in the west, Osama Monogatari went on to become a life simulator on the Nintendo Wii.

Wada’s original idea was that of a micro world similar to The Sims. In the kind of game Wada wants, “you have the city expanding, but you can’t see it. But you want to be one of the people living in the city, and to be a part of this growing too.”

With the current consoles out in the market, Wada believes it’s possible to create the game of his dreams. He was quoted saying:

Machines specifications are getting better, graphics are getting better, and space is getting bigger too. For a small calculation, you should be able to make that too. It will be one day, that we are able to make this game.
