Heard Through the NetVine: Naruto Coming to Xbox 360 via Canada?

naruto

Back in April, Ubisoft signed a licensing agreement with VIS Media to develop mega-anime Naruto for the Xbox 360 (set for a 2007 release). Two months later, some details started to appear and they are quite, shall we say, unconventional.

According to buzz the first next-gen Naruto franchise for the Xbox 360 will be developed by Ubisoft Montreal. The studio reportedly posted an open job listing for a Creative Director for the game. We checked the website but we didn’t see anything about a Creative Director or Naruto. And why Montreal? No offense to the sweet people of Canada, but isn’t that like hiring a Canadian chef to prepare that deadly fugu blowfish dish over a Japanese chef?

Who knows? Sometimes truth ends up being stranger than fiction. The bottomline is to get Naruto on the Xbox 360 ASAP. If it takes the Canadians to do the job, then we say go for it. Besides, this could be the break the Canadians have been waiting for. You know, that they can kick ass as well as the Japanese. Canadian manga, anyone?
