Hellboy for PS3, PSP and Xbox 360 In Development

HellboyKonami Digital Entertainment has announced that a new game for the Xbox 360, PSP and PS3 is in development: Hellboy. Based on Dark Horse Comics’ famous comic book series, the game promises to hand out Hellboy’s supernatural powers to the players.

Hellboy will enter into this battle against evil with his friends Abe Sapien and Liz Sherman when he uncovers the crazed Herman von Klempt’s plans of world domination. The group goes through six different locations with fully destructible environments in their attempt to thwart this evil plot.

When gamers play using Hellboy’s character, they can then use his strength to smash, crash and demolish anything and anyone in their path (but it’s advisable that they fight against their enemies). Hellboy’s Right Hand of Doom can be used endlessly on enemy forces. As there is also a detailed contect-sensitive fighting system, gamers have the option to charge up Hellboy’s strikes or use the character’s agility and speed to unleash different combinations of blows against the opponents. Hellboy can also grapple enemies, attack them up close and even use the enemies themselves as weapons to attack.

As the game will be for these three consoles, expect high quality graphics, with the detailed and expansive environments having advanced texturing and lighting techniques. Another great feature of the game is the way levels can be destroyed. When Hellboy is confronted with a large group of enemies, he can choose to create smaller groups by simply smashing a wall.

Hopefully, Hellboy’s destructive power which he uses to do good and the unique story of the comic book series can be translated into a great game. This game is scheduled for a 2007 release.
