Highlander to be “immortalized” by Eidos on 360, PS3, and PC
Eidos Interactive announced today that it has acquired the services of developer Widescreen Games to provide Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC players a video game based from the Highlander universe. The new title will also be called Highlander and it’s going to be a third-person action adventure one.
According to Eidos, players will come in as one of the Immortals amidst his battles against other Immortals across epic and historical locations such as New York, the Highlands, and even Pompeii, Japan. Aside from the already mentioned, here are the other information provided by Eidos:
- Four distinct environments and 18 missions – Play in NY (near future), Pompeii before the eruption, Highlands in the medieval ages and Japan during the Samurai era – Epic Engine for high quality graphics
- Three weapons to master – Katana, Claymore, and Double Sword
- Nine navigation features – Dagger climbing, Ropes, Dynamic ladders, Swan dive, Freefall, Traverse climbing, Cannonball, Beams, Ziplines
- Quickening techniques – Resurrection, Chi balance (stamina), Weapon Mastery (Fireblade, Wind Fury, Stone Armor), Channelling the Source (charge up for powerful attacks)
- 77 characters – New main character – Owen McLeod, Familiar characters from series/movies (Methos)
The availability of Highlander for all platforms is still unclear as of now with Eidos Interactive promising to release the game some time in 2008. While waiting for more updates, just enjoy the first batch of screenshots below.
