Hudson Soft Co. has announced that it expects profits to rise fourfold within three years by focusing on video games for the Nintendo Wii.
Hudson vice president Michihiro Ishizuka reasoned that the profits of any video game developer will increase in two years’ time after one console has established market dominance.
The implications of this statement are pretty big. It seems that Hudson is expecting that the Wii will come out the winner of the console wars and has decided to fully back the platform. The company has already revealed that it plans on releasing eight games for the Wii this year.
While this looks like a pretty safe move at this point considering the Wii has been outselling both the Microsoft Xbox 360 and Sony PlayStation 3, a lot can still happen in two years’ time (or longer if the console wars don’t end within that time frame).
