Insomiac to change Resistance: Fall of Man buddy list system?

Was there ever a time in gaming history when players were able to gain the carte blanche to tell developers and publishers what they wanted and then got it? We’re never really sure whether game companies change certain aspects of their games just because of gamers’ opinions. But we do know that in Resistance: Fall of Man, we’re going to expect that something will change about the buddy list system.

Those of you who’ve read every update we’ve posted about this PS3 launch title will recognize that its PS3’s buddy list system is really intuitive and is capable of adding a long list of friends you’d want to play with in the game. However, Insomniac Games and Sony tell us that it’s a separate buddy list – meaning you can’t connect to the PlayStation network main. We won’t wonder if we hear “boos” from the gamers’ side because we all want a universal ID, and another one with a separate password is a complete hassle.

Three Speech, thankfully, brought this topic up in another interview with Insomniac Games’ Ted Price. Calm yourselves, as Price tells us that it is definitely possible to update the game online. However, we were hoping they would’ve had this done by the time the PS3 ships to North America – that is, if their goal is to beat the Xbox Live system. We know that they may encounter problems with the game lag and stuff, but Resistance: Fall of Man is a highly-anticipated title. One right move for Sony and Insomniac would make it a huge hit.
