Iwata on Super Smash Bros. Brawl: an apology and an interview
Feeling bad about the Super Smash Bros. Brawl delay? Well so is the CEO and President of Nintendo, Satoru Iwata. In his latest entry to “Iwata Asks,” a column on the Wii website, he apologizes to SSBB fans for the delay of the game before diving into his interview with Masahiro Sakurai. Sakurai is one of the main forces behind the Super Smash Bros. series and in this interview, he talks about the development process behind Super Smash Bros. Brawl. Details in the full article.
“Iwata Asks” is a column on the Wii website written by Satoru Iwata, President and CEO of Nintendo. In the latest entry, Iwata interviewed Masahiro Sakurai, the game concept designer behind Kirby and the Super Smash Bros. series.
Before he dived into the interview though, Iwata expressed his apologies to fans for the delay of Super Smash Bros. Brawl, saying:
With the completion of the game falling behind schedule, we were unable to keep our promised release date, despite our greatest efforts in attempting to release this game on time. I would like to extend my most sincere apology to all of our customers that are anticipating the titleÂ’s release […].
He then proceeds into the interview with 37-year-old Sakurai. They talk about the development process that went into the making of Super Smash Bros. Brawl.
They went back to the very roots of the game, right back to the E3 event of 2005. They later talk on the more administrative aspects of the game’s development, namely office and staff concerns.
