Jack Thompson angered over Grand Theft Auto 4 JT parody

Jack Thompson - Image 1

Here’s yet another Jack Thompson story: the Miami lawyer read from the latest Game Informer issue about a Grand Theft Auto 4 (Xbox 360, PS3) gameplay demo that involved the assassination of a lawyer. Thompson believes that the lawyer-killing mission is Take-Two’s swipe at him, and his response? He’s now threatening to block the game’s release.

Thompson sent a letter to Take-Two, which we quote:

The showcasing play of the game to Game Informer revealed that the first killing mission of the “hero” of the game, Niko, is to kill a certain lawyer. When Niko comes into this lawyerÂ’s office, having used subterfuge to do so, Niko pulls a gun on the lawyer who says, “that the firm supports the second amendment and that guns donÂ’t kill people. Video games do”.

…The fact that the lawyer, killed on NikoÂ’s first mission, would bring up video games, makes it clearly a reference to me…

Now you have descended this low – using one of your games to threaten my physical safety…

He demands that Take-Two remove any and all Jack Thompson references on or before 5 p.m. of September 21, or he will block the game’s release. Will Take-Two comply, or will Thompson push through with blocking Grand Theft Auto 4‘s release and incur Take-Two’s legal wrath?

Certainly an interesting update on the issue between old JT and his beef with Take-Two Interactive. What’s your take about this issue? Do share it with us via the Comments section below.
