Japan Weekly Sales (March 20th – March 26th)

DS ShortagesThe weekly Japan sales numbers for hardware are in with the great sales-tracking of Media-Create. The Nintendo DS Lite and Nintendo DS are selling tons of units as always. They are being bought back by retailers for close to the MSRP and then sold for almost double! The more interesting battles are really heating up as well! The Gamecube outsold the Xbox 360  by only 43 units while the Xbox has actually inched ahead of the GBA by 19 units! All kidding aside, the week is pretty normal with nothing big to note. For those wondering about how important Japan sales are to companies, I’ll tell you right now. The Japan handheld market is currently larger than the North American and European ones but the home console market is not.

GBA SP – 5,627
Game Boy Micro – 4,883
Gamecube – 1,458
Xbox 360 – 1,415
