Join Rubik's Cube Homebrew Challenge and win US$ 500 - Image 1QJ.NET reader Maxime dropped by our PSP Development Forum and informed us about a newly-started homebrew coding challenge by online site DevsGen. The objective of the contest is for the contestants to come up with the best Rubik’s Cube game for the PlayStation Portable.

The prize? A whopping US$ 500! You can either group together and work as a team or do the homebrew alone. It also doesn’t matter what programming language you are going to use because all that matters is the end result. Here are some of the mechanics of the Rubik’s Cube Challenge:

  • The player will have to be able to play with his virtual Rubik’s cubic in the same way as a real one in his hands.
  • Ergonomics and handiness have to be well thought to provide a real pleasure when playing.
  • The game have to detect when the cube is finished.
  • The ability to provide some hints to the player will be better but it’s not an obligation.
  • The ability to apply custom textures on faces instead of classic colors but it’s not an obligation.
  • The cube’s rotation speed must be well thought.
  • The program can be ported from another version with the original author’s agreement. It will be less considered by jury but keep a chance to win if it is incredibly well made.

The Read link below will take to the above mentioned site where you can read other details about the contest. You can also check our Forum link below so you can discuss first how to go about this challenge. We will certainly be very proud if the winner will come from you guys.

The challenge will end on September 30.
