Jun Takeuchi on Chris Redfield and Africa as setting for Resident Evil 5
It sure is a hassle to watch a video interview in a foreign language without being able to understand it, isn’t it? Worry not, as we now present the same Resident Evil 5 interview with Capcom‘s Jun Takeuchi – this time with subtitles. Turn to the full article after the jump and pay attention as Takeuchi talks about Chris Redfield, Africa and what not.
Last March 26, we featured a video interview of Capcom‘s Jun Takeuchi talking about Resident Evil 5 (PS3, Xbox 360) in Japanese. There was just one problem: it had no subtitles. Well, that has changed, and the producer has lots of details for us in this translated version of the original video.
According to Takeuchi, Capcom saw it fit to set Resident Evil 5 in Africa because it’s considered the birthplace of humankind. What’s more, Africa became a kind of common ground between the Capcom staff members who wanted to try something new and those who wanted to stick to the tried-and-true.
Takeuchi also talked a little bit about Chris Redfield. It seems that Capcom wanted to explore the character of the former S.T.A.R.S. officer in a more in-depth fashion. This is especially important because S.T.A.R.S. is now defunct and it’s been years since we’d last heard from Chris.
Takeuchi also touched upon a variety of other topics, such as the interplay of light and shadow and weapons variations in Resident Evil 5. If you’d like more detailed information, just check out the translated video below:
