Kaz Hirai reveals launch window for Sony motion controller

With Microsoft‘s Natal tech slated for release next year Sony is definitely not resting on its laurels when it comes to the motion controller arena, and 2010 is quickly shaping up to be the year the two companies go head to head with their respective motion controllers.

With Microsoft‘s Natal tech slated for release next year Sony is definitely not resting on its laurels when it comes to the motion controller arena, and 2010 is quickly shaping up to be the year the two companies go head to head with their respective motion controllers.

Sony Computer Entertainment big boss Kaz Hirai recently told Times Online that their own motion-controlled “wand” will also be out by next year. He even does Microsoft one better by actually setting a tighter release window.

We are slating [the motion controller] for spring of next year. One of the things is that we just don’t want to put out the controller. We need a great software that supports the controller at launch. It’s something that we’ve been working on for the longest time.

Hmm. I wonder if it’ll incorporate some of those Sony patents we saw recently. Stay tuned for more updates.
