Koei’s chief executive resigns for “personal reasons”
A Koei spokesperson has just confirmed to Games Industry that Kiyoshi Komatsu, the chief executive of the Japanese game developer and publisher, has resigned for “personal reasons.” The report did not reveal further details surrounding the resignation.
In the interim, Kenji Matsubara has been appointed by Koei as Komatsu’s replacement. Matsubara joined Koei in 2001 and was previously head of the company’s software division #4, which specialized in producing online and mobile phone content.
Koei is best known in western territories for the popular Dynasty Warriors franchise, which has sold more than nine million units since its PlayStation debut in 1997. Koei will be marking its 30th anniversary next year and has just recently announced the creation of their new Kyoto office.
