Kojima assures MGS4 exclusivity on PS3

Hideo Kojima - Image 1After the announcements that the Grand Theft Auto IV and Devil May Cry 4 games will go multiplatform, Sony PlayStation 3 and Microsoft Xbox 360 fans have been duking it out on message boards on which PS3 exclusive will be the next to go. Specifically, Konami‘s Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots has been in question.

MGS4 head honcho Hideo Kojima was recently interviewed regarding the sensitive matter and the perfectionist brain behind Solid Snake‘s adventures gave Sony fans reassuring news: MGS4 ain’t goin’ nowhere.

Kojima conjured an analogy to drill home his point by likening the consoles to entertainment media. “The 360 is a DVD, it still needs to be high quality but you need more variations, while the Wii is almost like a TV channel, because every game you have is with your family”.

And the PS3? For starters, Kojima is a well-known movie buff who plans on making his own movies in the near future. He says that a game of MGS 4‘s magnitude is geared towards the big screen, and he likened the PS3 to a movie theatre. Kojima wants the first Metal Gear title of the new generation to be on the grand-daddy of technical specs and the PS3 is the machine to do it.

Guns of the Patriots has been shrouded in mystery as as only a few trailers have been shown so far. Kojima was mum on the subject even as he spoke in the GO3 conference recently. The game follows an old Solid Snake in a battle against Liquid Ocelot and the enigmatic Patriots of the United States.

“Like I said, MGS4 is aimed for the movie theatre, it’s aimed for the PS3, so the game’s scenario and graphics need this theatre-type hardware,” concludes the Konami stalwart.
