Konami to fortify its El Segundo stronghold
Konami is set to move its operations from its Redwood City offices to its new El Segundo site in an effort to consolidate the U.S. activities of the game publisher, which it says will be a strategic move to make projects jell even faster.
In a news item published in Gamasutra, Konami revealed that the move will happen at the tail end of July this year. However, workers need not worry because the company gave its word that not one person is getting laid off.
“There are absolutely no job cuts. We have invited the opportunity for all involved, though realistically we don’t expect everyone to make the move,” says Konami Human Resources president Suzanne Cantey.
Konami CEO Kazumi Kitaue, for his part, said “in order to grasp the rapid change of entertainment trends and take timely strategic action, having all functions under one roof is critical.”
The offices in El Segundo were formerly of Blue Label Interactive, which was taken over by Konami last year. Blue Label is a developer of games and other applications for the mobile platform.
