Crystal Dynamics has finally pinned down the release date of Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light for the PS3 and PC. Set to arrive on September 28th, around one month after it debuts on the Xbox 360 as part of it’s Summer of Arcade promotion, the game will set you back US$ 14.99.

Interestingly, however, the online co-op component for the XBLA version has been left out and will only arrive via a free update on the same day the game releases on PS3 and PC. According to Crystal Dynamics global brand director Karl Stewart, the decision was made in order to ensure that the game is as good as it can be:

“We made a decision recently because we were focusing on how we can deliver the best possible experience to the players. If we had launched with online co-op, we wouldn’t feel comfortable that it was the best possible experience for the player. This is our first digital title and we want to make sure we deliver the best possible experience to players.”

Additionally, the developer’s has also announced it’s DLC plans for the upcoming title. According to the team, from “October to December the Downloadable Lara Croft campaign continues with 5 DLC packs available across all formats. The first three are expansion packs featuring a combination of all new puzzle, exploration and combat experiences in the game and new areas to explore. The further two packs are playable character packs, offering gamers the chance to experience the entire adventure without Lara Croft and Totec and instead with some other well-known videogame characters…”
