Glenayre Announces Versera Video and Messaging

GlenayreGlenayre Messaging will be unveiling a new groundbreaking suite if Versera video messaging and Versera Active Messaging applications. The unveiling will happen Las Vegas at the CTIA Wireless trade event.

The Versera Video Mail will allow subscribers to utilize a  mailbox for voice or video calls and enable 2 G users to have video calls answered by their mailbox. The subscribers can then listen to audio portion in their mailbox or see the full video message via MMS, email or the Web. Glenayre is using this service as a key incentive to try to switch 2 G users to 3 G.

“Video is the application that is already delivering increased average revenue per user for operators outside of the U.S.,” said Mark Yaphe, Vice President of Product Management for Glenayre Messaging. “3G users already enjoy the benefits of video messaging, and now 2G users can get a taste of what they’re missing. The latest version of Versera Video Mail gives the 2G user easy entry into the video world while better positioning operators to offer a path to a 3G environment, with all of its added benefit.”

The new Active Messaging is a lot different then the traditional voice video messaging which only allows subscribers to view their messages. Active messaging enables subscribers to immediately purchase, subscribe, download, provide feedback, tell a friend, or request information by pushing a few buttons.
