Lara Croft joins Square Enix: Eidos shareholders approve takeover

Eidos Interactive‘s shareholders have approved Square Enix‘s takeover of the company, only the paperwork is left to finalize the arrangement. I hope they’re considering a Super Square Enix Brawl game somewhere in their pipeline.

It’s officially official. Eidos Interactive‘s shareholders have approved Square Enix‘s takeover of the company, only the paperwork is left to finalize the arrangement.

Although Eidos will be under Square’s umbrella, it looks like it will remain sufficiently independent as a studio. Squeenix won’t be meddling in Eidos’ operations so we likely won’t hear of any layoffs straight after going through redtape.

Once everything’s done, Squeenix will own the rights to Eidos franchises, including Tomb Raider, Just Cause, and Hitman. I hope they’re considering a Super Square Enix Brawl game somewhere in their pipeline.
