Lineage III code stolen?

 

The Digital Chosunilbo, a Korean news site, informs that the Seoul Metropolitan Police are currently investigating the theft of software code of NCSoft‘s upcoming game Lineage III. Seven former NCsoft employees are suspected of having sold the technology to a major Japanese game company. It is reported that the seven left NCSoft in February and allowed the Japanese company to review the software during a job interview. Police suspect that the technology might’ve been copied during the review.

The same NCsoft employees are also being suspected of having leaked the program design for Lineage III via e-mail, or other portable media last September.

Reports say that NCsoft has been suffering from internal management problems due to a senior game developer being fired for poor leadership skills. Apparently the firing only lead to more problems as most of the 90 member development team resigned after the said senior developer was fired.

The estimated damage to NCsoft is over a billion dollars.
