LucasArts has teamed up with Steam to work together on the objective of bringing classic and beloved franchises as digital downloads online. The press release set the date for the first ten fan-favorite LucasArts PC games to be made available on July 8, 2009. This, I suppose, is the teased announcement they were talking about a couple of days ago for “old school fans”.

Said Darrell Rodriguez, president of LucasArts,

It also gives more people a chance to play our games by making them available long after they’ve disappeared from store shelves. We hope our fans are as excited as we are about our plans and we can’t wait to share what’s coming next. This is just the beginning.

I guess we can then probably expect more to arrive in the coming months. But in the meantime, here’s what you can expect to pick up in a couple of days:

  • Armed and Dangerous
  • Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis
  • Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade: The Graphic Adventure
  • LEGO Indiana Jones: The Original Adventure
  • LOOM
  • Star Wars Battlefront II
  • Star Wars Republic Commando
  • Star Wars Starfighter
  • The Dig
  • Thrillville: Off the Rails
