Machinima holds festival in multi-verse
You may not believe us, but machinima originally came out in 1980. Almost three decades later, the concept continue to thrive and boom. In fact, there’s an academy for it now (Academy of Machinima Arts and Sciences) that holds an annual festival that promotes technologies, works and even producers related to the craft. The celebration however would be twice as fun this year as the 2006 Machinima Festival takes place both in the real and the virtual world.
The real one takes place in Astoria, New York at the Museum of the Moving Image. It would be on November 4 and 5, with both days beginning around 11 a.m. On the other hand, residents of Second Life would be able to attend the festivities on November 4 at 9 PM EST. Just go to Electric Sheep’s Laguna Beach Theater and experience an in-world simulcast of the New York event.
Also, Second Lifers get to have Machinima Festival preview, taking place on Laguna Beach Theater as well on November 2 at 8 PM EST. This pre-ceremony event will be attended by some of the nominees to speak about their works. Several of the actual productions would also be on display.
