Another game that took to the spotlight in Electronic Arts‘ GamesCom press conference was DICE’s Battlefield: Bad Company 2 (PS3, Xbox 360). The sequel to last year’s Battlefield: Bad Company is now confirmed for release next year, specifically March 2, 2010.
Pre-ordering the game from GameStop will also net you early access to the AK-74U. This variant has a faster rate of fire than the original AK-47, is lighter, and is more maneuverable compared to the original.
In Bad Company 2, players get access to a selection of 46 weapons that can be further customized into over 200 different, high-powered firearms. There are over 15,000 kit variations possible in the game along with 15 authentically modeled vehicles.
Bad Company 2 also has a cool micro-destruction mechanic — which by the way sounds similar to Red Faction: Guerrilla — that lets players chip away at cover bit by bit or even take down an entire building to fall on the heads of hapless enemies inside of it.
