Media Create hardware, software sales as of July 29
Biggest news coming from the Land of the Rising Sun is that Sony‘s 60 GB stock clearance bid has looked favorable in the eyes of Japanese gamers. The last numbers prior to Media Create‘s present totals tallied at just a little over 12,000 units sold in Japan, but for the week ending July 29, those sales have more than doubled: a whopping 28,829 PS3 units have been sold within the week alone.
Kudos still goes to the strong selling Wii, keeping a 77,169 unit sales total for the week despite a noticeable decline compared to last week. The DS also shared a similar decline, but currently leads the console pack at 150,584 units sold. The Sony PlayStation Portable sits comfortably at third, just a few thousand short of half the Wii’s numbers. The PSP raked in 35,068 units sold for the week.
The Xbox 360 just almost broke 4,000 units sold for the week, garnering sales of 3,872 units sold. The top ten software sold during the week are newly released games (a surprising eight out of the entire 10), and a healthy adoption of these games have been noted during the week.
