It seems there’s some dispute between Microsoft and Sony on the hardware sales numbers for the week of Black Friday. Apparently, the two agree to disagree as to who sold more: Microsoft has chosen to maintain its stance that the Xbox 360 has outsold Sony’s PlayStation 3.
Sony has chosen not to reveal its hardware sales results for Black Friday until the release of the numbers from the NPD Group. Meanwhile, Microsoft claimed that the Xbox 360 outsold the PS3 2 to 1. Sony denies this, saying that the numbers are way off.
When Microsoft was approached for a response to this comment from Sony, they said that:
Microsoft stands by their 2:1 claim which stems from estimates from retailers. We look forward to see NPD results on 12/13 for the month of November.
Looks like we’ll just have to wait for those NPD results to clear the matter up.
