Microsoft revises 360’s warranty and it’s all good
You were all delighted when Microsoft extended the Xbox 360’s warranty to a full year back in December since the original contract entitled fans just 90 days of assurance. Now, we’re pretty sure that this will make you bob up and down once more with joy as the company revised anew the warranty contract and it is all to the customers’ favor.
First, regardless if your console’s warranty is still in effect or not, Microsoft will provide free shipping for Xbox 360 units that will be sent in for repair. Accordingly, the company will send customers a postage paid box to return their consoles to the repair center. Also, Microsoft is now committing to repair and ship broken units within five business days.
Customers, whose warranty are still valid, are also now entitled to an additional 90 days after their consoles have been fixed. In the event that the remaining validity period of the original contract is longer than three months, then that will take precedence over this clause.
Quite unfortunately, customers with expired warranty are still responsible for repair costs. But to compensate, the new contract states that Microsoft will renew a repaired Xbox 360’s warranty to a full year. Lastly, the company also mentioned that additional personnel will be available for its Xbox customer care and the on-site technical support facilities are going to be upgraded.
It’s all good actually, when you really think about it. Kudos to MS!
